Spring and fall are the standard recommendation for Calgary, and there's real reasoning behind it — not just tradition.
Spring (April–May)
This clears everything winter left behind: road salt, sand from de-icing, and hard water spots from melting snow. It's also right before peak pollen season, so you get a clean baseline before things get worse.
Fall (September–October)
This clears summer's dust and pollen buildup and gets your windows clean before winter sets in — since almost nobody wants to be up a ladder cleaning glass in a Calgary January.
What Changes This Timing
- New construction or renovation — clean as soon as work wraps, regardless of season.
- Selling your home — time it close to listing photos, not the calendar.
- High-traffic commercial storefronts — frequency matters more than season; weekly or biweekly makes seasonal timing less relevant.
The Short Version
If you only do it twice a year, spring and fall are the right calls. Everything else is a case-by-case adjustment.
